Hyperacidity is a medical condition, in which the stomach secretes a lot of acids. If stomach acid flows back up into the food pipe, then one feels a burning pain (Heartburn), in the lower chest area; this condition is known as Acid Reflux. Hyper acidity is closely associated to Amlapitta in Ayurveda which is caused by the imbalance of agni or the digestive fire leading to the vitiation of pitta dosha. According to Ayurveda, there are two types of Amlapitta as follows:
Urdhvaga amlapitta: characterized by the upward movement of pitta.
Adhoga amlapitta: characterized by the downward movement of pitta.
