Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a long-term illness that affects many body systems. People with this illness are not able to do their usual activities. Sometimes, they may be confined to bed.  One common symptom is severe fatigue. It does not get better with rest and is not directly caused by other medical problems. Other symptoms can include problems with thinking and concentrating, pain, and dizziness. Several of the more common alternative names used to describe what most believe to be the same condition or subtypes include:

* myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME)
* chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS)
* post-viral syndrome
* post-viral fatigue syndrome (PVFS)
* Gulf war syndrome

Causes :-

Although the exact cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is unknown, researchers are looking into these possible causes:

* Viral Infection -- About 1 out of 10 people who develop certain infections, such as Epstein-Barr virus and Q fever, go on to develop ME/CFS. Other infections have also been studied, but no one cause has been found.
* Immune system changes -- ME/CFS may be triggered by changes in the way a person's immune system responds to stress or illness.

* Anxiety and stress -- Many people with ME/CFS have been under serious mental or physical stress before becoming ill.
* Energy production -- The way that cells within the body get energy is different in people with ME/CFS than in people without the condition. It's unclear how this is linked to developing the illness.

Genetics or environmental factors may also play a role in the development of ME/CFS

Diagnosis:-

CFS diagnosis requires ruling out other possible conditions. According to the Institute of Medicine, a CFS diagnosis requires all 3 of the following symptoms:

1. Having to cut back greatly on activities you did before the illness. Severe and chronic tiredness must have lasted for more than 6 months, and other health conditions have been ruled out. Rest does not ease these symptoms.
2. Severe tiredness after physical activity. The fatigue gets worse after physical or mental stress that you could handle before the illness started.
3. Sleep that doesn't refresh you.

In addition, one of the following symptoms must be present:

* Difficulty thinking that gets worse under pressure.
* Orthostatic intolerance. This means standing upright makes symptoms worse. Lying back down or elevating your feet may ease the symptoms but does not fully get rid of them.

Symptoms:-

Symptoms vary from person to person. They may be:

New and lasting tiredness that:
* Is not relieved with bed rest
* Often gets worse with physical or mental activity
Cannot be explained by another health condition
* Unexplained pain for more than 6 months, such as:
* Muscle aches and headaches
* Joint pain
* Sore throat
* Tender lymph nodes
* Confusion, memory problems, and not being able to focus
* Irritability, anxiety, panic attacks, mood swings, or depression
* Problems sleeping
* Vision problems
* Lightheadedness, balance problems, or fainting
* Chills and night sweats

Chronic pain and fatigue are common symptoms of both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. The difference is that, in fibromyalgia, fatigue often takes a backseat to debilitating muscle pain. In chronic fatigue syndrome, people have an overwhelming lack of energy, but also can experience some pain.
